over the past few years, there has been a steady increase in the 'air milage' of fruit and veg worldwide. as a passionate organic gardener, I found the choice between buying organic veg from, say, israel or new zealand, or buying non-organic, but local veg a quandary.
so why is it not possible to buy both local and organic? and why are the varieties of vegetables in our supermarkets limited to the same old handful of varieties?
the answer to these questions are the reason behind me starting the blue carrot; to give locals and restaurateurs alike the opportunity of buying seasonal, naturally grown local veg on their own doorstep... and I hope that you'll join in that quest!
